REGISTRATIONS ARE CLOSED FOR WEEKEND ACTIVITIES
During the weekends, there are talks ranging from hornbills to garden and water birds, to the rainforests of Ulu Muda, Kedah, and all about wild honey, to how to conserve Peninsular Malaysia’s Central Forest Spine. The speakers and panellists are from the MNS Hornbill Conservation Project in Belum-Temenggor Forest Complex, Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia’s Improving Connectivity of the Central Forest Spine and the Perak, Penang and Kedah Branches of the Malaysian Nature Society.
We hope the talks help improve the public’s understanding of the threats facing the Central Forest Spine and how to safeguard it as well as important biodiversity areas like wetlands. Participants and attendees are encouraged to register below as places are limited.
Daily, we are also screening short films on rainforests and hornbills, part of the Safeguarding the Central Forest Spine: Trees for the Future project. Free and/or in aid of the Orang Asli Photographers Fund Appeal. For screening order, please see button below.

Orang Asli Photographers Fund Appeal
If you’d like to help cover the Orang Asli’s travelling, accommodation and meals expenses from Belum-Temenggor Forests to Hin Bus Depot, you may contribute any amount at the exhibition’s TV Screening area (Scan & Contribute) or contact HY at info@PokokHutan.my. Please leave your e-mail so we give you a link to track the expenses, and a receipt if you require one. Thank you. 26/6/22 update: Initially, the exhibition was to travel to the villages of the Orang Asli photographers if there were sufficient funds. After experiencing their exhibitions in Selangor and Penang, they rather not have the exhibition in their villages as there is no one to look after them, and the weather may damage the pieces.
Rumah Uda Manap, Rimbun Dahan, Kuang, Selangor
This is a multimedia exhibition but you can also enjoy it without the need to bring a fully charged phone with data, a QR code scanner app and earphones.
BOOKING IS CLOSED / FREE
Admission is free.
Roslan Carang, Azam Carang, Marisan Pandak, Dedi Roslan, Noordin Asu and Mustapa Ramlee are six indigenous people living and working to safeguard the Belum-Temenggor Forest Complex (BTFC).
BTFC is recognised as the largest Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBA) in the northern part of the peninsula, and part of the Central Forest Spine (CFS).
To address the theme of reforesting, they thought about how a healthy forest provides for them, and their role to ensure the forest renews itself without the need for reforestation.
This will be the first time the Orang Asli are telling their personal narratives in photographs at a public exhibition. How do the Orang Asli harvest wild honey from 100m-tall Tualang trees in the rainforest? What is the connection between hornbills and the health of the rainforests? From 23/3/22 to 2nd April 2022, the exhibition’s co-curator will also be around to answer questions.
* All visitors need to pre-book a timed ticket before arriving at Rimbun Dahan
* All visitors are required to be fully vaccinated, and be ready to show their vaccination status on MySejahtera upon arrival. Non-vaccinated minors accompanied by vaccinated adults are permitted.
* Only 15 visitors are allowed inside Rumah Uda Manap per session.
